Overview
Advocacy Nook is a New York organization, led by Amled Pérez, that provides legal advocacy to families of students with disabilities, guiding them through IEPs, mediation, and education law. It had no website, so it couldn't showcase its services or success stories, and families looking for help online couldn't find it. It needed a bilingual, professional presence that was easy to maintain, on a tight deadline and a limited budget.
I designed the prototype in Figma and built the site from scratch with Next.js and Strapi in 2 weeks. I also handled deployment with CI/CD, hosting, and the domain. The team edits pages, posts, and success stories from the CMS without touching code, and the site costs less to run than an equivalent WordPress site. Today it's live, indexed by Google, loads in 0.7 s, and I still provide ongoing support.
The Problem
No online presence
No showcase for success stories
Invisible on search engines
The Solution
Custom bilingual website
Families find help in Spanish and English
Self-managed content panel
The team publishes cases and tips without code
Technical SEO and metadata
The site is indexed and shows up on Google
Low-cost hosting
Runs for less than a WordPress site
Design
I started from a Figma prototype with reusable blocks that combines in the CMS to build each page, keeping the reading clear and approachable for families seeking guidance.
